Amino acid sequence homology between pig heart lipoamide dehydrogenase and human erythrocyte glutathione reductase.
Extensive amino acid sequence homology has been found between nine tryptic peptides of pig heart lipoamide dehydrogenase (NADH:lipoamide oxidoreductase, EC 1.6.4.3] and the sequence of human erythrocyte glutathione reductase [NAD(P)H:glutathione oxidoreductase, EC 1.6.4.2]. The average homology is 40%. Six lipoamide dehydrogenase peptides are homologous with segments of the two parts of the FAD...
متن کاملThe effect of quercetin and galangin on glutathione reductase.
Quercetin and galangin can change the activity of glutathione reductase. Quercetin (a catechol structure in the B-ring) and galangin (any hydroxyl group in the B-ring) have different biological activities but, both possess high antioxidant abilities. Quercetin during the antioxidative action, is converted into an oxidized products (o-semiquinone and o-quinone), and subsequently glutathionyl add...

15 صفحه اولThe mechanism of the quinone reductase reaction of pig heart lipoamide dehydrogenase.
The relationship between the NADH:lipoamide reductase and NADH:quinone reductase reactions of pig heart lipoamide dehydrogenase (EC 1.6.4.3) was investigated. At pH 7.0 the catalytic constant of the quinone reductase reaction (kcat.) is 70 s-1 and the rate constant of the active-centre reduction by NADH (kcat./Km) is 9.2 x 10(5) M-1.s-1. These constants are almost an order lower than those for ...
متن کاملPlasmid-encoded mercuric reductase in Mycobacterium scrofulaceum.
A Chesapeake Bay water isolate of Mycobacterium scrofulaceum containing a 115-megadalton plasmid (pVT1) grew in the presence of 100 microM HgCl2 and converted soluble 203Hg2+ to volatile mercury at a rate of 50 pmol/10(8) cells per min. Cell extracts contained a soluble mercuric reductase whose activity was not dependent on exogenously supplied thiol compounds. The enzyme displayed nearly ident...
